First weekly sheep and lamb sale for 2021 sees strong prices

AGENTS at Warwick yarded 550 lambs and 78 grown sheep for the first sale for 2021.

AGENTS at Warwick yarded 550 lambs and 78 grown sheep for the first sale for 2021. 

All the regular wholesalers and butchers were present and operating on the quality yarding. 

Restockers were in large numbers and keen to purchase the store lambs and the ewe portion of the yarding. Prices for all classes improved on the levels experienced at the last sale for 2020. 

Young 2 score lambs sold to restockers sold to $149 to average $138, light weight trade lambs made to $199/head. Medium weight lambs to the trade sold to $200 with one pen returning to the paddock at $228/head. 

Heavy weight lambs to processors made to $220 to average $196/head. 

Hoggets to processors sold to $164/head. 

Ewe hoggets to the restockers made to a top of $218/head. 

Ewes sold to restockers at $193 and to processors for $180 to average $171/head. 

Heavy weight rams sold to processors at $178/head.
